There are more questions than answers surrounding the Canadian Consulate scandal and so the pressure mounts on Denzil Douglas to be truthful. Before the story broke no one in St Kitts had a clue that such an arrangement was in place and that a private $28 million dollar mansion was serving as our Consulate in Canada for St Kitts and Nevis. So the questions and allegations started spreading around like wild fire thus forcing the Press Secretary to fabricate a story for public consumption. Be warned that for an international news paper to be so intrigued with this case suggests that where there is smoke there is fire and big trouble ahead.
While the radio talk show host on Sugar City Roc is desperately clutching at straws and hell-bent on spinning an internal matter of PAM his Leader who came from the grass roots is busy making a billionaire richer with our tax dollars. Instead of focusing on enlightened discussions like preventing another unholy “Allen Stanford alliance” this radio talk show host is busy digging into PAM internal affairs to distract the nation.
Nothing is free these days and there is always a cost and the Douglas Government ought to tell the nation what is the relationship with this Honourary Consul in Canada. This what the general public wants and Sugar City Roc must end the red herring for there is no crisis in PAM; Grant is stronger than ever and is not going anywhere; get used to it.
If this multi million dollar property is being used as a Consulate why is it that our Government picked a mansion that is located in an affluent area within a gated community where no Kittitian can walk just in? If as the Labour Government claims that business is done by fax, phone and a computer, then this Consulate could have been set up anywhere in down town Toronto. We smell a rat here and only time will tell what the truth is.
As we gear up to pay a burdensome VAT tax the people ought to know if the Douglas Government is paying a secretary and a ground maintenance staff at this Consulate and if so how much and who are they?
In an interview this very wealthy man Todd Axelford admitted that he is still learning to be a diplomat and he got into this deal because Douglas inspired him. Bingo! How on earth this man could be inspired by a political bandit who came to power on fear, murder, disappearances, intimidation and riot. How could this billionaire be inspired by a Monica Lewinsky aspirant and a man who proclaimed loudly that he incite already and can incite again? The only inspiration that Denzil Douglas could provide is how to become richer.
Todd Axelford continued, “When you meet someone as stimulating, hard driving and focused it is contagious.” Straight Talk agrees with him because his friend Denzil Douglas is driving up the National Debt past $3 billion and he is very focused on expanding his personal wealth and adding to his 16 properties before he goes.
The vexing picture of Denzil Douglas in the Labour Spokesman of Saturday last is a deliberate attempt to insult and toy with our concerned citizens. Take that and shut up is the connotation and message of defiance from that publication. It is a prime example of power arrogance challenging the taxpayers who pay for Douglas’s travel and his large US$500.00 subsistence per day that enables him to sprawl off in this mansion.
When we find out how much is it costing our country to maintain this $28 million dollar mansion it might require an increase in the VAT rate from 20% to 25%.
