Seven years have passed since The Expendables 3 was released in cinemas. The action-packed franchise is making its return to the cinemas after quite a long time with The Expendables 4. The latest installment, as reported, will be a spin-off about Lee Christmas (Jason Statham). Now reports have emerged that this might be the last time we see Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross, as he might take a step back from the franchise from once and all waving goodbye to its fans.

“It’s time to move on. This will be my last day . So I enjoy it, but it’s always bittersweet when it’s something you’re attached to. After about twelve years, I am ready to pass the baton on to Jason Statham. He is in capable hands.” Said the actor in the video posted on Instagram.

Is This The Final Farewell To EXPENDABLES?
The video posted by Stallone sounds more like his final goodbye to the Expendables series rather than just a last day of shooting. Quoting that he said he is ready to pass the baton on to Jason certainly means Stallone’s Expendables journey as the main character is over. Though he might make appearances in future movies in minor cameos. Stallone also addressed how he wants to entertain fans with films, and not with the action in them:
“Because what I want to get across with my successful films is a human touch and not so much the action. The action speaks for itself. It’s just about building a relationship with the audience with the characters’ tasks. It’s about creating escapism and hopefully there’s more to it. That’s the difficult thing: heart, energy and humor.”
Expendables 4 is scheduled to release in the nearest theatres in 2022.
