Aegon plays an important role in “House of the Dragon”. Now the role has been filled. A fresh approach should also be pursued compared to “Game of Thrones”.
The shooting of ” House of the Dragon “, the first ” Game of Thrones ” prequel, is in full swing and piece by piece new pictures and information come to light. A “HotD” trailer was recently released and a start in 2022 on US streaming service HBO Max has been confirmed.
With Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Milly Alcock as Rhaenyra and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hohenturm, the leading actors have already been confirmed. The most important role of Aegon II Targaryen was kept silent – until now!
The role of Aegon Targaryen is said to have been cast with actor Tom Glynn-Carney. This is reported by the well-connected website WinterIsComing.net . The series revolves around the civil war “Dance of the Dragons”, in which two siblings fight for the throne of Westeros: Aegon and Rhaenyra.
Milly Alcock has long been an actress for Rhaenyra, the firstborn of the outgoing King Viserys (Paddy Considine). She plays an important role in the first season. Her younger brother Aegon, who is of the opinion that he is the first male child to be entitled to the throne, is largely still a child in season 1.
The role of Glynn-Carney is therefore likely to be a little smaller and will be played in large parts by a younger actor before Aegon becomes an important dancer in the dance of dragons in season 2. The puller behind Aegon is his mother Alicent (Olivia Cooke).
Alicent is the second wife of King Viserys and has a special interest in seeing her son on the throne. After all, Rhaenyra is not her daughter, but that of Viserys’ first wife.
Showrunner Reveals How HotD Differs From GoT!
In addition to the fresh cast news, showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik, who co-designed the series with George RR Martin and Ryan Condal, talked a little about working on “House of the Dragon”. He wants to honor the legacy of “Game of Thrones”, but also bring a breath of fresh air.
