The so-called opioid crisis originated in the US in the late 1990s and showed the effects of increasing abuse of opioid painkillers. In the series, the background of the problem is examined more closely using different characters.
Painkiller: Who’s In The Cast
Taylor Kitsch (as the family man Glen Kryger), Ana Cruz Kayne (as the young lawyer Brianna Ortiz), Tyler Ritter (as John Brownlee), and John Ales (as Dr. Gregory Fitzgibbons) will star in some of the leading roles.
Also included will be “Lost” actor Sam Anderson (as Raymond Sackler, co-founder of Purdue Pharma), Carolina Bartczak (as Glen’s wife Lily Kryger), “The Society” actor Jack Mulhern (as Glen’s stepson Tyler Kryger), and Ron Lea (as Bill Havens’ attorney).

Painkiller: Production
Eric Newman (known as the showrunner for “Narcos” and “Narcos Mexico”, among others) will serve as executive producer. At the same time, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster will be responsible for the script and serve as showrunners and producers. Peter Berg will be the executive director. The writers Patrick Radden Keefe and Barry Meier support the “Painkiller” team as advisors.
